DNC & COANG & P-O-O-P-I-N-G!

First a recap of the weekend. Thursday we got a call to pick up Nathan - so Jason did. Friday I had to stay home with him and he had a doctor appointment (check-up) that day. His ear infection cleared up beautifully, but he had the summer stomach virus! He had a rash and diarrhea. No fever or vomiting - but to expect it along with sore throat. It was also contagious for Jason and I. Thankfully we missed that bullet this time and by Sunday Nathan was done with the diarrhea and was able to return to school on Monday. He actually had a really good day yesterday and then he and I hung out and ran errands while Jason was at Masons.

Last night Jason completed his third degree of Master Mason and received his apron and bible.

Friday the COANG - or Colorado Army National Guard - (800) moved in to JWU. The DNC - or Democratic National Convention - also invaded Denver. So this week JWU is allowing no faculty, students, or neighbors on campus. There is a skeleton crew of staff and we must have picture IDs and be on the list! It's quite interesting to see blockades, Humvees, M16s and lots of people in fatigues all over our campus. The locals are avoiding downtown, where the DNC is taking place, like the plague! We are still feeling the effects on our interstates though - traffic is a bear!

So with all this - it's about as much excitement as we can stand this week. Thank goodness that next Monday is a holiday and we have a four day work week following that!

I would also like to say congratulations to my good friends, Karen & Todd, who found out last week that they are expecting their #2 in March of next year! You can find a link to her blog here on my blog. Hopefully she'll start blogging about pregnancy the second time around and with a 2-year old this time! No pressure!:)

Rainy Day Weekend

This past weekend we had rainy weather and cool temperatures. We started our weekend by taking Nathan to the lactation consultants to be weighed - he is now an even 14 pounds!

We pretty much had a relaxing weekend - just going to church and a Shriner's picnic. We read lots of books over and over again and played with some toys - Nathan loves both. Nathan also had the opportunity to wear long sleeved tops and long pants with shoes! You can see him sporting white shoes that Jason wore as a child and Timberland boots from Grandma. We can't believe how cute he is. There is also a photo of he and Jason at the picnic.

At the picnic there were two other baby boys - one 4 days older than Nathan and one 4 days younger - and Nathan was bigger than both and the only one 100% breastfed! He of course was the cutest - but was also more in charge of his motor skills and more alert. We will be seeing these boys in December again - so we'll see if they catch up with Nathan!

Nathan's well - Mommy's sick

By last weekend Nathan was back to his old self. He's had a good week at daycare with a good appetite to prove it. Mommy on the other hand got everything he had - but without the benefit of getting on antibiotics to get over it quickly. Since I am nursing I can't even take decongestants for my summer cold. However, I think I'm past the worst of it and on the road to recovery. Oh - and then I fell down and skinned my knees and hand.
Here are some cute pictures from this week. Enjoy!

Above are photos of two of my sorority sister and their sons - as well as Nathan and I. Our sons are almost one year apart - so little steps!

And aren't they all cuties!

Nathan's Olympic Weekend

This weekend Nathan sported his first pair of shoes. They did not seem to faze him at all as he still kicked and stood up without slowing down.
He was also sporting some new outfits and a Belize bib from his cousin Amy.
This weekend we took it easy and rested up from being sick. Nathan passed his stomach virus and cold on to me, so I was resting too! Nathan seems to be feeling much better as his appetite has returned and he was laughing and playing a good bit this weekend. He keeps Jason and I so entertained. He also watched his first Olympics as he loves watching TV. Is he related to Jason or what?
We have a few busy weekends in the future, so we were happy not to have anything pressing this weekend!

Sick Baby :(

So yesterday daycare called and Nathan was not his normal laid-back, happy self. He had been fussy and needed to be held, wasn't eating well, had diarrhea and vomiting and they were concerned. So I called the pediatrician - talked to the nurse - and made an appointment. I picked him up and Jason and I took him to the doctor. He has the start (very mild) of an ear infection in his left ear and some sort of viral bug that causes the diarrhea and vomiting. (He's been congested for 10 days - that could be related to the ear infection.) The doctor put him on a very mild antibiotic for the ear infection that should not hurt his stomach any more. He can also have Tylenol as needed when he gets fussy (or feels bad). He started the three day antibiotic last night. He was already feeling better and smiling last night before bed.
This morning he had no fever and was all smiles. Jenn at daycare said they would take him so he is there today. If he start to feeling bad they will call me and I'll go get him of course.
I'm very thankful that his first sickness crept in like a kitten and not a lion. I would have freaked if he'd had a high temp or screaming and I had to take him to the emergency room in the middle of the night. This was less stressful the way it happened and he should be on the road to recovery soon.

3 Months Old!

Saturday Nathan turned 3 months old. Jason and I don't know where that time has gone, but we don't know what we did before his arrival! On Saturday we had two photo appointments. The first was at Sears and the second at Target. I want to see which have better quality photos.....and I had coupons! The Sears photos are online at searsportrait.com (online session #41831A108550215/ password 2ZHNWPSS2)/ Target photos which there are more of will not be available online for at least another week. Again, he was great for the photos!

Today Nathan and I will be celebrating World Breastfeeding Week by attending our breastfeeding support group for an informational session and a little party.
Photos are from this weekend. Enjoy!
