Home Improvements - Part 1

Well our (behind us) neighbors are sad this week. We have now taken away every opportunity for them to see us naked! First last June our soon-to-be brother-in-law installed a pocket door to our closet/bathroom area. So now when we accidently leave or someone unknowingly to us leaves the bedroom shades up - we have a door to close so they can't see us getting in and out of the shower!

This weekend we put up an opaque "stained glass" film on our two pie shaped windows in our den. You would think that 20 feet in the air they wouldn't be able to see us....but no. We have a cut-out that looks out over our den that is right outside our bedroom door and the laundry room. So when we would streak to or fro.....they could get an eye full if they were looking at the right moment! :) So instead of $600+ for actual matching, custom-made, wooden blinds, I paid $60 for the film and LOVE it. We get this beautiful dimmed sun through it and completely opaque!

The other project we have going on this weekend is that we are replacing our (original to the house) white (stained, dirty, trompled down, yuck) carpert with nice new brown (made of corn, clean, soft and fluffy) carpet in the downstairs (study & den). We (meaning Jason) is doing the removal of the old stuff and we are slated to have the new installed Saturday! So keep on the lookout for pictures next week.

Other things happening this week with us: Tuesday weekly home group at our home and Wednesday Nathan's swim lessons. We are very thankful for this 4-day week!

One other thing, last week I was asked to fill the role of Coordinator for the SALT (supper and a little thoughtfulness) program with our church. It is a ministy that provides meals (ususally a week at a time but sometimes longer) to families or individuals in our church that need the help due to illness, surgery, accidents, births, etc. We have about 1600 that attend our church regularly - so a large group to serve - and over 70+ volunteers to call upon. I have served as a volunteer with this ministry for over a year and we were blessed to be recipients when Nathan was born.

Here are some videos of Nathan laughing, playing and crawling! There is a picture of him on "Western Wear" day in Denver and daycare as well as him being silly and with the crazy pool hair! He's such a sweetie!
Have a great weekend!

Crawling!!!

So after 3+ weeks of getting in the position, bouncing, and going backwards....Nathan has finally crawled (forward)! Don't let him not crawling before now fool you - he got around by rolling, lunging, etc. Looks like we are now going to have to start watching him more closely and baby-proofing the house a little more. Last night we had drinks on the floor and we walked into the kitchen area. My exact words were, "he's being too quiet"..."our drinks are in there!" Even though he was no where near the drinks when we left, he crawled over to pour them both out and play with the ice! Thankfully we are getting new carpet so once we picked up the ice and put it in one cup, he proceeded to take it from us, dump it again and play with the ice - showing us exactly how it went down. All we could do was laugh - then clean up and change his clothes! What a little bugger!
We all had the best time this weekend just spending it with one another.
Today Nathan went to school and we went to work in some major snow - but snow does not slow down Denver. We also have swim lessons again this Monday and Wednesday. Daddy got to go in the pool with him last Wednesday! :)
Have a great week everyone!

Nathan's older SC "brother"

Can't believe I forgot to post this. When we were in Orangeburg over the holidays - eating out of course - we saw a baby that favored Nathan. He was with his grandmother and she could not get over how much they looked alike too. So pictured are Nathan (almost 8 months) and Roy (almost 1 year)! Similar - but Nathan is much cuter! Funny right!?!

Nathan "Little Fish" DuBose

Friday Nathan turned 8 months old and Monday he had his first swimming lesson. He absolutely loved it and took to it like no other! I could hardly keep a hold on him - the entire class! We knew he loved bath-time, but had no idea he would be so bold in a pool! My friend Stacy and her son are also in the class. Ethan is 12 days younger than Nathan and Stacy and I were in several pre-baby courses together. This will make you smile! Enjoy!

Trevor Dog

Friday, January 2, 2009 Trevor Dog made his trip to doggie heaven. He was an excellent dog and will be missed. Jason had him for 14-15 years.

Christmas 2008

Nathan had a great first Christmas. It began with a pre-Christmas morning at our home in Colorado then went to my mom's house and then to Jason's mom's house! We flew out of snow in CO on Tuesday to arrive to humidity in SC. Christmas day it was 79 degrees and sweltering! The next day (day of family photos) it rained and turned cold. I then got sick and lost my voice for a week! After this extreme weather change came the fog......that prevented flights from coming into SC.....so our flight home Sunday was cancelled. So we finally got to leave on Monday.
Over the holiday we saw parents, siblings, in-laws, niece/nephews, cousins, aunts, etc! We ate wonderful, wonderful food and just enjoyed being with everyone!
Here are a few photos of our holiday!
