July SC Trip Home

Nathan and I flew home for a week July 7-14th. SC was as hot, humid and buggy as ever. I certainly got me taste of the weather. While there we were able to see SO many people!
Wednesday instead of arriving at 1:22pm we arrived in Savannah at almost 7pm. Thankfully Nathan and I paired up with a mother from Littleton, CO and her two children that were headed to Bluffton. I think we were a blessing to one another! We were able to set up a "kid camp" in the nasty Houston airport with toys, movies, snacks, books, etc. We also were there to watch each others bags for bathroom trips and sometime kids! All I can say is thank you Lord for sending Nancy that day! Mom, Dad and Terry picked us up for the airport. Nathan was at first shy, but Me-Ma and Pa-Pa quickly one him over and were creating quite a ruckus in the backseat on the drive home.
Thursday we were in Allendale with Mom and Dad. Melissa and Dylan came up and brought lots of toys for Nathan to play with while in SC. We had a great lunch and afternoon together. That night Nathan slept with Me-Ma and Pa-Pa for the first time.
Friday, Melissa & Dylan and Leslie & Janie picked up Nathan and I and we headed to Hilton Head Island for most of the day. Nathan had a ball. He's 100% unafraid of the ocean. He loved the waves, the sand, the critters we found! We totally wore him out. Leslie was great playing with Nathan and Nathan LOVED Janie by the end. From there we headed home, showered and went to Dukes BBQ for dinner. There we met most of Mom's family and Wanda and Jim.

That night we went home with Jim and Wanda. Wanda's cousin Ann and her grandson Will were at Wanda's to play with Nathan before bedtime!

Saturday was the Mole reunion. So we all 4 went there and saw over 60 Moles - all siblings or their children, grandchildren of my dad - so close relatives. After we ate there was a pool so Nathan got some swim lessons from Janie who is a lifeguard and teaches 4 year olds how to swim.

We went to Mom's after that and met Stephanie and Doug and their new twins! Stephanie and the twins came home with Jim & Wanda, Nathan & I and spent the night.

Sunday the 5 of us went to church with Jim & Wanda and then out to lunch at Palmetto's. From there we went to Columbia to a cook-out at Karen & Todd's house (with Michael & Katie). Stephanie, Doug and the twins were there. Alexa, Jeff, Bradean, & Ella. Michelle, Charles, Cassie & Charley. Shannon and new boyfriend Markell and my good friend Sherry. And of course Jim, Wanda, Nathan and me! We we got home Wanda's cousin Jeannette came over to see Nathan and I.

Monday was all Wanda's. We first went to see her mother, "GG" - Nathan's Great Grandmother. From there we had lunch with Jim and his son, shopped at the local Five and Dime, Nathan napped and we went out to eat with Jim, Wanda and their best friends Ken and Deb. We then headed back to Allendale for the remainder of our trip.

Tuesday Terry & Cody came, then Melissa. We got to spend a lot of special time with then. Nathan saw a 4-5 foot rattle snake and a frog. Nature was all around us with bugs and vermin! :) We visited my mother's parents grave site and drove to my dad's family farmland. It was great taking in all the lush southern scenery. Auntie M stayed the night and Nathan slept with her.
Wednesday we headed to the airport for our return trip home. Auntie M, Aunt Terry, Cousin Cody, Me-Ma and Pa-Pa all took us. We checked in our luggage and then headed to grab a bite to eat before going through security. Nathan and I were in car, plan or airport for about 10 hours straight. He wore me out, but I've got to say he's a great traveler. He has his own little pull luggage which I call my bag of tricks to keep him occupied, so we fared fairly well. It was nice to get back in our beds.
During this time - Jason was not lounging and sleeping late. He painted our bedroom a beautiful dark blue and hung our custom wood blinds. The blinds were a surprise as I didn't know they had come in yet. The room looks awesome and now I'm ready to paint on down the hallway to our master bath! Maybe next month.
For now I fly-out Sunday for a few days in Providence for business. I will miss my little monkey and his daddy. :( At least it's only a few nights.

The picture are from Wanda's camera - more to come later.
