Bath Project Completed!

Jason's first tiling project is complete! Attached are pictures of the process and completed project. The before picture is in a previous blog - but I'm sure you can get the idea from these photos.

This is the Jack and Jill bath that connects the nursery with the front guest room. The nursery is the same yellow as the bathroom and the guest bedroom is blue (background for the stroller picture in a previous blog). This bathroom is two rooms - the first has the double sinks and the second has the toilet and bath/shower. So that's the deal with all the doors.

Next will be photos of the completed nursery so stay tuned!

Scottish Eyes are Smiling!

After weeks of anticipation and waiting the kilt from Scotland has arrived. To your left you see Jason in full kilt attire - from the kilt to the shirt, sporran, pin, belt, socks and flashers. He is ready for St. Patrick's Day! We also have a tux upper so that he will be able to wear it to formal Mason events.

So the big question....is he authentic? I'll never tell!

Perfect Baby Check-Up

Yesterday I had my monthly check-up and baby boy looks perfect. I have gained 15 lbs to date and already feel huge. I was told it's only going to get worse.....
After my blood sugar episode my OB decided to move my glucose test up about 4 weeks, so I had it this morning. Contrary to what the nurse I saw last week told me, the very low low could be a sign that my blood sugar is going up and down all day - and could be hypoglycemia or gestational diabetes. I should get the results back on Monday - so please say a prayer that it is not gestational diabetes!
My OB also suggested that I make an appointment with my pulmonary specialist at this point since 1) it's getting colder, 2) I'm getting bigger and 3) I've already had two colds and have kept a nasty cough from the last one. So I guess I'll be seeing that doctor in the next few weeks.
On a brighter note....Jason has finished tiling and painting the baby's bathroom. He will now move on to painting the actual nursery and then I get to move in and decorate. I cannot wait! It's going to be one more step that makes this prenatal journey more real! I plan to post pictures next week of the finished projects.

Glucose Test Update: My test came back fine.....my iron is low so I'll have to take an iron supplement, but at least I don't have to worry about diabetes!!!

Our baby has a sweet tooth!

This baby is certainly going to take after his dad and Grandmomma Wanda with his sweet tooth! Monday morning around 9:30ish after a breakfast of frosted Cheerios and milk I started feeling awful. I got really hot, heart was racing and felt like I may faint or black out. I tried putting my head between my knees and finally walked out in the 30 degree weather to cool off. My ears were ringing and my arms felt heavy and weak. I laid down on our office couch a minute and felt some better until I had to sit back up. I was feeling lethargic and wondering if I should go home, call my doctor or tough it out. I knew I could not drive home so on Bette's suggestion I staggered over to our health services to get my blood pressure checked. It was as great as ever but the nurse suggested that we check my blood sugar while she had me there. That was the culprit! My sugar was 40.....after having eaten. To put this in perspective, 60 is low for people who have fasted. So I had to eat a pack of crackers and drink a juice and it was checked again. It rose to 65 which is better and she let me go. She wants me to come back tomorrow to have it checked if I feel weird and then to let my doctor know when I see her next week.

Last week I had some of these symptoms but much milder and thought it was just pregnancy! The nurse wants me to eat sugary things today and add fruit or juice to my morning meal and make sure to eat snacks. I guess I won't be taking after my mother and will have no problem with my diabetes testing in a few weeks!

Mom & I decided that this is Jason's son and he wanted a Snickers and a Mountain Dew for breakfast instead of plain old cereal!

We are starting week 23/40!

KISS Baby Nursery & Bath Remodels

Now that we are at 22 weeks we are kicking into high gear to get the nursery and bath ready for our new arrival and the guests that we are anticipating.

We will be starting our project by tiling the bathroom. We had a small leak in that bathroom that without our notice turned into a big mess that involved pulling up carpet. Since we had to do something with it we decided to go ahead and tile it so it will be done for the long-haul. We got the tile in this weekend and the process will begin this week. Thank goodness Jason is so handy that he can take on this project with some help from our neighbor.

We have also ordered our Peanut - Snoopy crib set and once it arrives this week we'll be able to pick out paint that compliments it and will grow with our little boy. Once that is complete we'll arrange the nursery furniture and start the decorating. This part is going to be so much fun for me. I could not wait to find out what we were having so I could start planning the decorating.

Right now the bath is torn down to the bare bones and the nursery has a KISS theme going on....I'll make sure to post "after" photos also so you all can see the transformation.

My physical changes have been a larger girth and lack of air. Why can't I breathe?! When we had our ultrasound we were told that the baby was long and big. Last night I was reading in a baby book that our baby should weight about 7 ounces at 19 weeks.....he weighed 12 ounces at 19 weeks. I'm in trouble! When our dog Sid sits in my lap the baby likes to kick him. I wonder if he can feel it because sometimes he looks at me like I did something. I'm sure he notices that there is less and less room in my lap for him. Hopefully they are bonding now and when he arrives Sidney will accept him as part of the pack and not try to maul him!

Food is still my friend and even though I don't always get hungry - when I start eating I can put it away. This was witnessed by our friends Ryan & Lindsay Friday night at 3 Margaritas. I was the only one not having a margarita - so I made it up with food consumption! And there is always room for dessert these days. Life is good!

Baby Gear here we come!

First of all we are now registered at Babies-R-Us. The website is Babiesrus.com and our registry is #70108438 - or you can pull it up by our names and Thornton, CO. For those of you who must ship things to us, we found a little short cut. If you pick what you want on our registery, then call the Westminster store at 303-650-2229, X3, and place your order (with our registry number) and tell them to call us for pick up - you don't have to pay shipping and handling. You will however have to pay our high (8%) Colorado sales tax.

Above we have Jason with our new travel system from Grandma Wanda. It includes the infant carrier, two bases and the stroller. The stoller goes up to about 5 years old! I have also included a photo of the adorable bassinet passed on to us from Kayce, with the handmade afghan from my parents and the bear I made myself for our little boy. This will reside in our room!

Baby boy got several Christmas gifts including: a Bumbo seat and onsie from Auntie Mary in Chicago, books from Auntie Alexa in Columbia, bottle and blanket from Auntie Sherry in Columbia, Pat the Bunny book and stuffed animal from President Bette, onsie jumper from Auntie Karen in Columbia, several outfits from Me-Ma & Pa-Pa Mole, several more outfits as well as Carolina and Clemson bib, bottle and paci's from Grandma & Granddaddy Holbert. We now also have Jason's homemade baby blanket made by his great-Aunt Georganna.

So as you can see our home is starting to look like we are actually going to have a baby around soon!

Christmas & New Year's!

This Christmas Jason and I stayed in Colorado. For Christmas Eve we went to our church's candle light service which was standing room only! From there we had our semi-traditional steak dinner. It snowed all night and Christmas morning we had quite a cover with it coming down for 4-8 inches more that day. We actually broke the Christmas Day record for snow in Colorado.

We invited our friends Chris and Susan to join us for Christmas lunch and they invited a couple with a 2 year old son and one on the way and a man that his wife and child were away for the holidays. The two men were the pastors of their church. Within 10 minutes of their arrival and minutes of my warning that Sidney was not kid friendly.....Sidney got their 2 year old on the lip. It did not break the skin and was just a scratch and according to the other Susan the child went to Sid's food bowl while he was eating.....but none of this made the situation any less humiliating and embarrassing. We were just so thankful that they little boy was not actually hurt - but just scared. So that incident was a bit hard to get over! Then Jason and I got to spend the afternoon and evening together just enjoying the snow and warmth of inside.

Between Christmas and New Year's we had more snow so Jason got to come home early. Since I'm off through January 3rd it was nice to have him home during some of my holiday. We were also able to meet Emily, Correy & 8 month old Ella for dinner. We had such a great time that we are going to try to be better about getting together with friends and have a dinner date planned with Lindsay and Ryan for after the new year.

New Year's Eve was spent watching Clemson in the Chick-fil-A Bowl. Wanda & Jim were there live so we had fun looking for them on TV. We rang in the New Year as the last one before baby boy gets here in May and celebrated with sparkling cider!

Speaking of baby boy he moves every day now and Jason and a girlfriend Emily have even been able to feel him. My girth is getting bigger and bigger and it seems like I am going to be all belly. Baby boy also got several Christmas gifts and clothes and items from the grandmothers since Christmas. The rate things are going we won't have to worry about buying clothes for a while.

New Year's Day we had our home group over for a potluck. Being southern, Jason and I provided the black-eyed peas (and rice) and collard green (with cornbread) for our pennies and dollars for the new year.

Picture in blue was taken New Year's Eve - and I had to use the one where the ferocious Sid Vicious got in it! He said, "be afraid....be very afraid...rooow." The other two are New Year's Day.
